General Questions
What services do you offer?
We provide complete solutions for rolling shutters, door systems and glass, including shower cabins, glass railings and custom solutions for homes, villas and commercial projects - from the site inspection and system selection through to supply, installation and after-sales service.
Can I request a site inspection before work begins?
Yes. A site inspection helps us take accurate measurements, assess the opening and installation location, and then recommend the right system and specifications for the project.
Can I get a quotation before signing a contract?
Yes. The quotation is prepared based on the dimensions, system type and required specifications. If you don't have the measurements yet, you can start by requesting a site inspection.
Do I need to know which slat or motor I need?
No. Tell us what you need and describe the space, and our team will help you choose the right slat, motor and system based on the dimensions, how it will be used and your security requirements.
Do you handle residential and commercial projects?
Yes. We offer solutions for homes, villas and chalets, as well as shops, factories, warehouses, malls, banks and commercial premises.
Why do specifications vary from one project to another?
Because the right system depends on the opening's dimensions, the installation location, how it will be used, the level of security required and the project's final design.
Rolling Shutters
What are rolling shutters?
A system of slats that move vertically within side guide rails and roll up into a shutter box at the top when opened. They can be fitted with different operating and control systems to suit each project's needs.
What are the main benefits of rolling shutters?
They provide privacy and block out light when closed, help insulate against dust and weather, and reduce noise transmission. You can also choose systems with different levels of security and durability.
Do rolling shutters block light, dust and noise?
When fully closed, the slats interlock to form a sealed surface that blocks light and greatly reduces dust and weather ingress, while foam-filled slats improve thermal and sound insulation. Insulation performance varies with the slat type, the foam and the installation.
Can I control how much light and air comes in?
Yes. You can close the shutter completely for privacy and blackout, or use the tilt (ventilation) position to let in light and air without raising the shutter fully.
Are there slats designed specifically for light and air?
Yes. Slats such as NGS are designed with wider openings to let in more natural light and air while maintaining privacy, and NGSS combines the light-and-air feature with a higher level of protection.
Does choosing a Light & Air slat mean light will always come in?
No. The light-and-air feature is used only when you want it. When fully closed, the shutter stays sealed, and when you want ventilation and light you can switch to the dedicated position without raising the shutter fully.
Do I need an NGS or NGSS slat to get light and air?
Not always. Standard shutters also offer a tilt (ventilation) position, while NGS and NGSS slats feature wider openings for those who want even more light and air.
Is there more than one type of shutter slat?
Yes. Slats come in different types and sizes to suit small, medium and large openings, as well as slats designed for light and air and others for high security levels.
How do I choose the right slat?
The choice doesn't depend on price or looks alone. The opening's width and height, the installation location, the required security level and how it will be used are all key factors in choosing the right slat.
Do all windows use the same type of slat?
No. Each slat has different width, height and weight limits, so it is chosen according to the opening's dimensions and the nature of the project.
Can shutters be installed on large openings and balconies?
Yes. There are slats designed for wide openings, and the right system is chosen according to the width, height and project requirements.
What is the difference between standard foam and hard foam?
Hard foam is denser and more rigid than standard foam, giving the slat greater structural strength. It can also allow some slat types to be used on wider openings, according to each system's specifications.
Is hard foam always better?
Not necessarily. It is chosen when the opening's dimensions or the nature of the project call for extra rigidity, while standard foam is suitable for many other applications.
Is the shutter box a fixed size?
No. The box size is determined by the opening's height, the slat type and the diameter of the tube used, so it is calculated for each project according to its specifications.
Can rolling shutters be installed after finishing work is complete?
Yes. Shutters can be installed in existing buildings, and the right installation method is determined by the condition of the opening and the existing finishes.
Is it better to plan the shutters during the finishing stage?
The earlier the coordination, the easier it is to account for the shutter box, guide rails and electrical wiring within the design and final finishes.
Security & Protection
Do rolling shutters protect against break-in attempts?
Yes, when the right system is chosen. There are slats specifically designed to increase security and protection, selected according to the opening's location, its dimensions and the level of security required.
What is the best type of shutter for ground floors?
Ground floors need extra attention to security. Options include ZINC Zincalume slats, designed for a higher level of protection, and the final system is chosen according to the opening's dimensions and the nature of the property.
What is the difference between aluminium and Zincalume slats?
Aluminium slats are lightweight, rust-resistant and available in many specifications, while Zincalume slats are heavier and more rigid, which is why they are used where extra protection is needed.
Is Zincalume the best choice for every opening?
No. The strongest slat isn't necessarily the right one for every project. The right choice depends on the required security level, the opening's dimensions, the installation location and the system's weight.
Is there a system that combines security with light and air?
Yes. The NGSS slat is designed to combine a high level of protection with the light-and-air feature, making it a great solution for anyone who wants security, ventilation and privacy together.
What is the difference between NGS and NGSS?
NGS is an aluminium slat for those who want more light and air while maintaining privacy, while NGSS combines the same concept with a higher level of protection and greater weight.
What is the difference between ZINC and NGSS?
Both offer a high level of protection, but ZINC focuses mainly on durability and protection thanks to its heavy Zincalume material, while NGSS combines protection with the light-and-air feature.
Is the strongest security slat always the best?
No. The goal is to choose a complete system that suits the opening. We look at the dimensions, installation location, security level, curtain weight and the right motor, rather than simply picking the heaviest slat.
Which system is best for coastal areas?
Solid aluminium systems are a good choice for coastal and high-humidity areas thanks to their resistance to rust and corrosion. The final system is chosen according to the opening's dimensions and how it will be used.
Motors & Control Systems
How is the rolling shutter motor torque selected?
The motor isn't chosen at random or based on the window size alone. We first calculate the actual weight of the shutter from the opening area and the weight per m² of the chosen slat, and then select the right motor torque in newton-metres (N.m) to carry that weight and operate the shutter efficiently.
What does motor torque in newton-metres (N.m) mean?
The newton-metre is the unit used to express motor torque. Simply put, the heavier the shutter, the more torque is needed to move it, which is why the required motor torque varies from one opening to another.
How is the shutter's weight calculated?
We calculate the opening area in square metres and multiply it by the weight per m² of the chosen slat. The resulting weight determines the right motor power according to the system's load tables.
Do all windows need the same motor power?
No. Even two windows with the same dimensions may need different motor power if the slat type and weight differ. That's why we calculate the weight of each window first and then choose the right motor power for it.
Does the slat type affect the choice of motor?
Yes, directly. Weight per m² varies from one slat to another; standard aluminium slats are much lighter than some security slats such as Zincalume and NGSS, so the load on the motor differs even when the opening area is the same.
Does a heavier slat need a stronger motor?
A heavier shutter means a greater load on the motor, but the final choice isn't based on guesswork. We first calculate the actual weight of the curtain and then determine the right motor power.
Why is it important to choose the right motor power?
Because the motor must match the load it will carry, so the power is selected based on the system's technical calculations - not simply by fitting a bigger or smaller motor.
Is a bigger motor always better?
No. The goal isn't to fit the biggest motor available, but the motor power that matches the actual weight of the shutter.
Can the shutter be operated by remote control?
Yes. The system can be fitted with a remote and receiver to open and close the shutter remotely, depending on the motor type and the chosen control system.
Can the shutter be operated from a switch?
Yes. Various control methods are available, and the right one is chosen according to the motor type and the project's needs.
Can I control more than one shutter?
Yes. The control system can be designed around the number of windows and how you want to use them, whether you want to control each window independently or set up a system covering several openings.
Are motors available in different power ratings?
Yes. Motors are available in different torque ratings in newton-metres (N.m) to suit different weights, and the rating is chosen after calculating the shutter's weight and determining the required load.
What happens during a power outage?
It depends on the motor type and the chosen operating system. If being able to operate the shutters during a power cut is a priority for your project, we take that into account when selecting the system.
Shower Cabins
What types of shower cabins are available?
Systems vary in design and opening style to suit both large and small bathrooms, and the system is chosen according to the space, the design and how it will be used.
What type of glass is used in the shower cabins?
We use 10 mm tempered (Securit) glass from Saint-Gobain, with the system and accessories chosen to suit the design.
What glass colours are available?
Several options are available, including clear, black, smoked, grey, bronze and reeded glass.
Clear, frosted or tinted - how do I choose?
Clear glass makes the space feel larger and shows off the bathroom's design details, while the other options offer different levels of privacy and aesthetic appeal.
Are there cabins suitable for small bathrooms?
Yes. Some systems are designed to make the most of limited space, including bi-fold doors that fold in on themselves when opened to free up more room in the bathroom.
Can I choose the style and colour of the accessories and handles?
Yes. Handles and accessories come in a variety of designs and styles, coordinated with the profile type, the glass and the overall design of the bathroom.
How do I choose the right type of shower cabin?
The choice depends on the dimensions of the shower area, the bathroom size, the door's opening direction, the layout of the sanitary fixtures and the desired design - not on looks alone.
Glass Railings
Are glass railings safe?
The safety of a glass railing depends on choosing the right glass thickness, fixing system and accessories for the location, which is why the system is determined after assessing the installation site.
What types of glass railings are available?
Systems differ in their fixing method and final look, ranging from profile-based systems to Frameless designs that rely more heavily on the glass itself.
What is a Frameless railing?
A design based on glass panels with no top handrail or visible horizontal profiles, giving the space a more open feel and an unobstructed panoramic view.
Where do Frameless railings work best?
They suit balconies, staircases and places where the view is an important part of the design, such as garden or sea views.
Can the railing be fixed to the side of the staircase or balcony?
Yes. Side-fixing methods allow the glass to be mounted on the side of the staircase or balcony when that best suits the design and the site.
How do I know which railing system is right for me?
The choice is based on the type of staircase or balcony, its dimensions, the finishes, the desired design and the most suitable fixing method for the site.
Doors for Banks, Factories, Malls & Shops
Do shop doors use the same slats as window shutters?
Not necessarily. Large commercial and industrial openings need dedicated systems and slats that can handle different dimensions, weights and operating conditions.
Can rolling doors be made for large openings?
Yes. Dedicated systems are available for large commercial openings, with some reaching 6 m wide and 5 m high depending on the slat type and project specifications.
Are there doors designed for banks and high-security premises?
Yes. Solid aluminium systems with high specifications and thicknesses are available, designed for banks, exchange offices, data centres and premises that need a higher level of security.
Can I secure my shop while keeping the storefront visible?
Yes. Perforated systems allow partial visibility and ventilation while the door stays closed - ideal for shops that want part of their display to remain visible after closing.
Are there doors that allow ventilation?
Yes. Some systems can be fitted with perforated sections between the slats to provide ventilation and natural light without fully opening the door.
Do you offer solutions for factories and warehouses?
Yes. The door system is chosen according to the opening's dimensions, how it will be used, the required security level and the system's weight, with dedicated solutions for large commercial and industrial openings.
Are aluminium doors suitable for coastal areas?
Solid aluminium is rust-resistant, which makes it a good choice for coastal and high-humidity areas.
